2007 TELMO RODRIGUEZ "BASA" BLANCO RUEDA OUR PRICE $12.99
AROMATIC WHITE FROM RUEDA, SPAIN...Basa is a blend of Verdejo, Viura, and Sauvignon Blanc and is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Telmo’s unique blends include indigenous varietals with others more recognized. Vineyards are planted with varietals traditional to their regions and are biodynamically farmed. All vines are exclusively bush-trained, the traditional Spanish method. The intense floral aromatics, freshness and wonderful texture are the result of the high elevation plantings in lime and gravel soils, with good drainage, that give rise to some of the best quality white wine grapes in Spain. This is an exceptional wine for the price.

The 2007 Burgans Albarino is light gold-colored with a sprightly nose of mineral, spring flowers, and lemon peel. Ripe, balanced, and concentrated, this is an ideal match for flaky fish courses. WARRE'S FINE WHITE PORTO OUR PRICE $13.99
REFRESHING WHITE PORT (YES, WHITE PORT) FROM DOURO VALLEY, PORTUGAL...The grapes used in the production of Warre’s Fine White are a blend of traditional Portuguese varieties from the Douro Valley, such as Arinto, Códega, Malvasia Fina, Rabigato, and Viosinho. Warre’s Fine White under-goes fermentation with natural yeast at between 24-28ºc. Once the must has fermented to the desired degree of sweetness (usually within 48 hours), fortification takes place with grape brandy at 77% v/v (generally 80% must / 20% brandy). Aged in oak casks for an average of 3 years, and is bottled when ready to drink. Pale straw color, smooth and delicate nose, fruity palate with a long and crisp finish. Unlike most red port wines, the Fine White does not need decanting. The wine is ready to drink when bottled, but will maintain its quality in bottle. Makes an excellent aperitif when served chilled or poolside with tonic water and a slice of lemon.
2005 ALTANO DOURO VALLEY RED WINE OUR PRICE $7.99
VALUE RED FROM DOURO VALLEY, PORTUGAL...This wine comes from the Douro Valley vineyards of Northern Portugal and is produced from the Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca varietals. The first provides intense ripe berry flavors and the second, lifted floral aromas. Made by the Symington family, wine producers in the Douro since the 19th Century. A good value. It has modest tannins, too, but there is enough of a tannic burst to provide reasonable support to the wine and even a little intensity early on after opening. The tannins and some acidity combine to give it some liveliness.
2006 BODEGAS CASTANO MONASTRELL YECLA OUR PRICE $8.99
FULL-FLAVORED RED FROM YECLA, SPAIN...100% Monastrell (Mourvedre). An insane value produced from three vineyard sites ranging in age from 40-60 years. Opaque purple-colored, it gives up fragrant aromas of blue fruits, plums, and prunes. Ripe, layered, and full-flavored, this hedonistic effort can be enjoyed now but will surely evolve for 2-3 years. Match it with beef and lamb.

The 2006 Las Rocas Garnacha is dark crimson-colored with an alluring nose of spice box, mineral, black cherry, and black raspberry.
